March 2023 – On March 10, the eighth grade students played basketball against the faculty members in the annual students vs. teachers basketball game. This tradition takes place every year O. Henry’s big gym, most likely for entertainment purposes. Both teams played well. But the question is, who will win?
The game was fierce and both sides were trying very hard to score the victory. The team of teachers had most of the coaches which gave them more of an upper hand. The eighth graders had athletic kids in an attempt to even it out. Everyone took this game very seriously. Both sides were fierce in their attempt to win. Although the eighth graders played well, they were no match for the overwhelming power of the teachers.
The people in the bleachers also took this game very seriously. It was loud in the gym as you could hear the roars of the audience cheering for their team to win. A common occurrence was them banging their shoes on the floor loudly. The players in the bleachers would occasionally shout suggestions like “Lay up!” or “Pass!” They would also loudly cheer for the players on the student team. Before the start of the game, Coach Kobs, one of the players for the teacher’s team, stated that “It was going to be nice to destroy the children!” Most of the points on the teachers team were from Coach Wolfe, who was probably the most experienced player there. Both teams did very well, but in the end the teachers had the upper hand and won with a final score of 45-22. Now that the winner has been decided, the question now is, who will win next year?
