Where Should We Go Next?
Every Spring Break, Ms. Bass-Patterson takes a group of kids to fun destinations around the world.
In 2025-2026, she took them to Tokyo, Japan. In 2026-2027, she is taking them to London, England, and Paris, France. But where should she go for 2027-2028 and beyond? Here are some people’s opinions on that topic.
Q: Where would you like to go in 2027-2028?
Violet Cain – “I would like to go to South Korea because the food is yummy.”
Ruby Cody – “I would like to go to Hawaii because I love the beach.”
Annie Rein – “I would like to go to Hawaii because it’s cool.”
Now here are some questions for the people who are going on the 2026-2027 trip to London and Paris.
Q: What are you excited about for the trip?
Quinn Combs – “I’m really excited to spend time with my friends, and I like planes.”
Maddie Swogger – “I’m so excited to go to a new place and try some croissants.”
However, going on a class trip takes a lot of supervision. Ms. Bass-Patterson is in control of all of these decisions, so I asked her some important questions.
Q: How much preparation does it take to go on one of these trips?
A: Initially, there’s quite a bit of time spent organizing the details and preparing for the meetings, but once I have everybody signed up, there is not too much. We have a big meeting maybe three weeks before the trip, and then another online meeting a week prior, but that’s about it. The company I work with does most, if not all, of our planning for the actual trip.
Q: Where was your favorite trip so far, and why?
A: That is a really hard question to answer, and I’m not sure I can. Each of them has been really different and amazing in its own way. The destinations have been so different. So far, I took a good group to Europe, and that was fun in its own way. The group of students was really mature, and I enjoyed watching them be really responsible. I took a group to Costa Rica, and just having those experiences on the beach, going to the rainforest, and sharing meals together brought us all really close. Then, this last trip to Japan was special in its own unique way because we were in such a completely different environment.
Q: What is the hardest part about traveling with an average of at least 15-30 kids?
A: The hardest part is probably just making sure that everybody is having a good time and getting to do what they want to do.
Q: Where do you want to go in the 2027-2028 school year?
A: I think that we’re going to Spain.
