Most school districts around the country have 5 days of school each week, but what if we reduced the number of days to 4? This would make space for more days on the weekend, but it would still leave room for 4 school days each week. Usually, when schools decrease days during the school week, they have their days from either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday. People who would benefit from this would be teachers, principals, students, other staff, etc. Many people have different opinions on this idea, but most agree that putting a 4-day week in place would improve students’ education and behavior. There are lots of pros and cons that come with a 4-day school week, like teachers getting paid less, but they get more free time. So with that said, I will be interviewing some of O. Henry’s staff and students.
Interview Question: Do you think we should have 4-day school weeks?
Hutton Lostracco – “We only have 2-day weekends, and we have to deal with school for 5 days. Having less school would benefit people’s mindsets by giving them more time to themselves.”
Coach Kobs – “Absolutely, for teachers’ sanity and kids.”
Ms. Rayo – “No, because it’s important to exercise your brain as much as you can.”
Avery Chamberlin – “Yes, so we could have less school.”
Hailey Decareau – “Yes, because the weekend and weekdays would be more even.”
Esai Quintero – “Yes, because we could have longer weekends.”
Dylan Rocha – “No, because education is an important factor in life.”
Raine Campos – “Yes, because I feel like it would give us a bigger break, and we could have a better sleep schedule.”
Mrs. Man – “Yes, because our brains work better if we had a bigger break.”
