Kids should be allowed to have an e-bike because many kids at O. Henry Middle School have e-bikes, and many kids live far from the school. Some parents are very busy with work, so they buy their kids e-bikes so they can get home.
The disadvantage is that kids can get in trouble with their e-bikes at school or on the road. Kids don’t need their parents to drive them anywhere, and they do not spend as much time on their phones as other kids. Also, kids can learn mechanic skills, electronic skills, and road safety.
Most e-bikes can go higher than 28 mph, so kids need to be careful. To ride an e-bike, you need to be 12 years old or older. Kids also have a higher chance of going to the hospital because of head injuries. Many states don’t allow kids to ride Class 3 e-bikes.
